
A Santa hat doorstop is a great way to decorate your entranceway for the holiday season! It is a perfect project to use up some of your scraps.
Requirements Lists:
- Template pieces
- Red cotton fabric
- White mink fabric
- Interfacing
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Co-ordinating thread
- Filling of your choice e.g. Hobby fill plus rice, baking beans or pea gravel.
- White craft pom pom
- Fabric glue
- Template pieces
Cutting:
- Cut out 1 base and 4 sides out of your cotton fabric.
- Cut out 1 base and 4 sides out of interfacing.
- Cut your triangle template at the line and using this cut out x 4 pieces of your white mink.
Construction:
Seam allowance is 1cm unless otherwise stated.
- Fuse interfacing to your red cotton pieces as per manufacturer instructions.
- Fold over the top edge of mink fabric pieces (the shorter length) by 5mm. Pin to the red triangles. Stitch down with a decorative stitch of your choice.
- Sew 2 triangles together along one of their long edges, right sides together. Press seams open. Repeat for other side
- Pin right sides together and sew. Press seams and clip points.
- With right sides together join base one side at a time. Leave an opening on one side to turn out and fill with your chosen filling.
- Turn out, fill and slip stitch the opening shut.
- Using the fabric glue, glue the white pom pom to the top.
