Make tidy, straight, doubled over 10mm hems in an instant with the 10mm hemmer! This attachment eliminates the need for pre-pressing and pinning your hems and makes sewing straight hems a breeze. Follow the steps below for your best hems yet!
A few tips before you begin:
- A 10mm double fold hem works best on straight hems. Straight skirts, tablecloths and napkins are all good examples. For full circle skirts and other curved hems, a smaller hem such as a rolled hem (created with a rolled hem foot) or a single fold 10mm hem is a better option.
- The 10mm hemmer works best on light to medium weight fabric. Do a test on a scrap piece of fabric first for best results.
- Don’t use your machine scissors when using the 10mm hem attachment as it can damage the scissors.
- Attach your 10mm hemmer to machine – it snaps into the two small holes on your needle plate, in front of your foot.

2. Fold your hem over 10mm and then over again (towards the wrong side of the fabric). Press with your fingers.

3. Carefully feed this into your hemmer foot.

4. Put your foot down and needle in.

5. Start sewing! Gently hold your fabric up to help feed it into the attachment as you sew.

6. Press hems for a neat finish.
